e-SAFE is among the potential recipients of the 2022 SHC Solar Award.
The SHC Solar Award is a reward assigned in the framework of the Solar Heating and Cooling Programme, which is one of the several multilateral Technology Collaboration Programmes of the International Energy Agency, also known as TCPs. The mission of the SHC Programme is to advance international collaborative efforts for solar energy to reach the goal set in the vision of contributing 50% of the low temperature heating and cooling demand by 2030, as envisaged by the Paris Agreement.
In this framework, the SHC Solar Award celebrates the success of those programs/projects aimed at increasing the market impact of solar heating and cooling technologies.
In particular, for the 2022 edition the focus is on the social housing field. Indeed, this year’s recipient will have demonstrated substantial achievement and measurable impact to support solar heating and cooling to reduce the costs and environmental impact of maintaining or increasing comfort in social housing.
e-SAFE, with its innovative approach to deep energy and seismic building renovation, applied for a twofold reason. On one side, it is an European funded project aiming to contribute to the EU climate targets for 2030 and 2050 by putting forward innovative technologies and solutions in the energy efficiency sector through the adoption of active solar systems. On the other side, as the implementation of project went further, it emerged that social housing and public sector – especially in earthquake prone regions – would have been the primary beneficiaries of e-SAFE ongoing and future outcomes.
The winner will be selected by July 2022 and the award will be presented in September 2022 during the EuroSun 2022, the International Conference on Solar Energy for Buildings which will take place in Kassel (Germany).
