The 2025 New European Bauhaus Call, part of the Horizon Europe framework programme, are now officially open. This new call aligns closely with initiatives like the e-SAFE project, which promotes innovative and sustainable approaches to retrofitting the built environment — a key focus area in several of the 2025 topics.
With a total budget of €120 million, this is a significant opportunity to support forward-thinking projects aimed at transforming the built environment and strengthening local communities across Europe.
These calls fall under the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative, which blends sustainability, inclusion, and aesthetics. Projects are expected to follow three guiding principles — participatory processes, multi-level engagement, and transdisciplinary approaches — and align with one or more of the four thematic axes:
- Reconnecting with nature
- Fostering a sense of belonging
- Prioritising places and people most in need (ensuring affordability and accessibility)
- Embracing long-term, lifecycle thinking
With 11 topics available, this call is ideal for stakeholders interested in shaping greener, more inclusive, and innovative urban spaces.
The funding opportunities are structured around three main destinations:
- Circular and regenerative approaches to the built environment
- Connecting the green transition, social inclusion, and local democracy
- Innovative funding and new business models for neighbourhood transformation
Who Can Apply?
These are collaborative projects requiring a consortium of at least three independent legal entities established in different EU Member States or Associated Countries. A typical consortium includes 10–15 partners with complementary skills and experience.
